Advisory Engagements

Three engagements, each calibrated to where an organisation actually stands

ERP Health Conversation
Engagement I

ERP Health Conversation

A short advisory engagement for organisations carrying an older ERP — SAP on-premise, Oracle E-Business Suite, or a regional system bearing years of customisation. We examine the system as it operates, listen to daily users, and write a measured health note naming what works, what is fragile, and which refinements would extend its useful life.

  • Current-state system walkthrough
  • Stakeholder listening sessions
  • Written health note with prioritised observations

ERP Modernisation Advisory
Engagement II

ERP Modernisation Advisory

A longer engagement for organisations weighing whether to modernise — through a cloud ERP move, a re-platform, or selective continuation. We examine strategic case, operational risk, data continuity, regulatory dimensions and absorption capacity. Output: a written modernisation paper with three considered scenarios. We represent no ERP vendor.

  • Strategic and operational risk analysis
  • Three documented scenarios with trade-offs
  • Vendor-neutral, no referral arrangements

ERP Selection Workshop
Engagement III

ERP Selection Workshop

A two-day workshop for organisations entering a deliberate ERP selection process. We help write the requirements brief in vendor-neutral language, design the evaluation, examine contractual and implementation-partner considerations, and rehearse harder conversations with internal stakeholders. Closes with a selection handbook for formal procurement.

  • Vendor-neutral requirements brief
  • Structured evaluation design
  • Written selection handbook delivered

Why Padu Consult

Counsel that carries no vendor interest and no pre-formed conclusion

Vendor-Neutral Position

We accept no referral arrangements from ERP vendors or implementation partners. The advice given is shaped entirely by the organisation's situation.

Written Deliverables

Every engagement closes with a considered written paper the client may circulate within the organisation — not a slide deck, but a document that can bear weight.

Cross-Functional Scope

Our engagements address finance, operations and IT in concert — because an ERP decision that satisfies only one function tends to disappoint the others.

Malaysian Market Familiarity

We understand the regulatory landscape, local ERP implementations and the procurement customs that shape ERP decisions in Selangor and across the peninsula.

No Replacement on First Instinct

The default position in our health reviews is to find what can be improved rather than replaced. Modernisation is only recommended when the case genuinely warrants it.

Discretion and Confidentiality

ERP discussions surface sensitive organisational information. We treat all engagement material with the same care we would wish for our own institutional records.

Opening Enquiry

Is this the right moment to look at your ERP properly?

If the system is carrying more weight than it was designed for, or a modernisation conversation has been deferred too many times, a short initial discussion costs nothing and tends to clarify the situation quickly.

Common Questions

Questions organisations typically raise before an initial conversation

What happens in the ERP Health Conversation engagement? +

We schedule a series of structured sessions with the people who operate the system daily and those who depend on its outputs for decisions. We review system architecture, customisation history and integration points. The engagement closes with a written health note — typically a brief of eight to fifteen pages — naming observations and suggesting considered refinements. There are no commitments required beyond the engagement fee.

How long does the Modernisation Advisory typically take? +

The engagement typically spans four to eight weeks, depending on organisational complexity and the availability of key stakeholders. We work at the pace the organisation can absorb, rather than compressing timelines for the sake of speed. The output is a written modernisation paper presenting three considered scenarios, each with its risks, costs and operational implications set out plainly.

Do you represent any particular ERP vendor? +

We do not. Padu Consult accepts no referral fees, commissions or other arrangements from ERP vendors, resellers or implementation partners. This position is not merely a policy — it is the foundation on which the advisory work rests. If a client asks whether a particular vendor is a reasonable choice, our answer is shaped by the client's situation alone.

Who should attend the ERP Selection Workshop? +

The workshop is designed for the working group that will carry the selection process through — typically representatives from finance, operations, IT and procurement. A senior sponsor is helpful but not required in every session. We ask that participants arrive having given some thought to what has worked and what has not in the current system, so that the two days can be put to deliberate use.

Are the fees fixed or subject to scope changes? +

The fees listed are fixed for engagements of standard scope. Before confirming any engagement we hold a short scoping call to understand the organisation's situation. If the work is likely to require significantly more sessions or a substantially larger written output, we will say so plainly and agree the scope before proceeding. There are no charges that appear without prior discussion.

Do you work with organisations outside the Klang Valley? +

Yes. While our principal office is in Petaling Jaya, we work with organisations across peninsular Malaysia. Sessions can be conducted on-site or through structured remote arrangements, depending on what suits the organisation. Travel is accommodated within engagement fees where the distance is reasonable; longer distances are discussed at the scoping stage.
